Psssst! Covert Poverts are on the Prowl!

Don’t miss the inaugural ‘happening’ of Nanaimo’s Covert Poverts! Tuesday, July 26, 2pm, at the empty lot at the end of Prideaux Street (along the Millstone River).

Who are the Covert Poverts? A loose-knit and ever-changing group of local poets who stage FREE collaborative poetry happenings in unorthodox locations, advertised only through the cybervine – email, twitter, facebook. Like raves, but for poetry.

Happenings will often be only a few minutes long. Come late and you’ll miss it!

The Covert Poverts’ first happening will be a performance of Kim Clark’s polyphonic poem about motherhood and mothering: “Do The Following”. The four voices will be performed by Kim Clark, David Fraser, Mary Ann Moore and Kim Goldberg.

The empty lot at the end of Prideaux Street has easy vehicular access and loads of parking. You can sit on one of the concrete abutments, or bring a lawn chair, or stand. Performance will be about 10 minutes long. If it rains, we get wet. Please come a few minutes early so that we can start at 2 pm or shortly thereafter.

This is poetry on the fly, where it is least expected, advertised by back-channel only.

Covertly yours,
Kim Goldberg
