Dam Poets – Photos

Some Dam Poets read and performed some dam fine poems today at – you guessed it – the dam! Colliery Dam Park, that is. The event was organized by Meldy Wilton to show how important the dams are to the community. Many people hope that Nanaimo City Council’s ill-considered decision to empty and destroy the dams (and with it the park and ecosystem) can be reversed.

People who shared poems and performed today were: Dale Schulz, Max Dowie & Grump, Amy Falkenberg, Leanne McIntosh, Kim Goldberg, Richard Broad, Meldy Wilton, Jim & Janette (Owl & Pussycat), Brunie Brunie, and some cool dude who came up at the end, asked if he could join in, and then WOWed us with an excellent and totally improvised slam riff about the dams. Way to go, cool dude whose name I never caught.
