Theme for 2014 Poem Gallery: CHANGE
Submissions are now open for this year’s Poem Gallery at Nanaimo Harbourfront Library.
And the theme this year is “CHANGE”. This can be any kind of change your imagination latches on to—a change in scene or season, a change of heart or outlook, changing partners, changing locks, changing a flat tire, or changing your mind.
We are looking for poems on any kind of metamorphosis, shift, or alchemical transformation from one state to another.
Or perhaps the word “change” inspires thoughts of political change, social change—even spare change. All fine!
Stretch the boundaries to the breaking point. That’s where change comes from, after all.
Send one or two short poems on “Change” to Anthony Martin at: amartin@virl.bc.ca.
Put the words “Poem Gallery” in the Subject line of your message.
Deadline: March 15, 2014
Eligibility: Participation is open to anyone who lives in a community served by a branch of Vancouver Island Regional Library—a region that extends from Haida Gwaii to Sooke.
Poem Gallery Launch and Public Readings: April 6, 2014, at 1:00 pm at Nanaimo Harbourfront Library. All poets in the 2014 Poem Gallery are welcome to read their poems on display at this public event. I will be your emcee, as usual. 🙂
The poems will be displayed for one year in the large picture window of the library, fronting onto Diana Krall Plaza.
The Poem Gallery is unveiled each year in April, which is National Poetry Month in Canada.
