For several years I have been photo-documenting the fantastic and ever-changing work at a site known locally as “The Foundation” (because the foundation and some concrete-block walls and metal doorways are all that remain of the building that once stood here). The Foundation is behind the Howard Johnson Hotel and above the Greyhound bus terminal in downtown Nanaimo, BC. It fronts onto Comox Street but is accessed elsewhere.
My thanks to all the artists who have resisted, and who continue to resist, the forces of erasure.
