April is National Poetry Month! Join us for the official unveiling and readings from the new Poem Gallery at the Nanaimo Harbourfront Public Library on Sunday, April 10th at 1:00 pm.

The Harbourfront Library Poem Gallery features the work of local poets and has been going since 2008. The display is changed annually and is located on the library’s large picture window fronting onto the Diana Krall Plaza.

The Poem Gallery is organized by local poet Kim Goldberg and Harbourfront head librarian Abbas Saffari.

“I would like us to start thinking of poetry as the skin of the city,” says Kim, who created Nanaimo’s first Poem Gallery in early 2008 in a vacant downtown storefront.

This year, 37 Vancouver Island poets are featured in the Harboufront Library Poem Gallery. Many of them will be present at the April 10th unveiling to read their poems. So come on down and join the fun!
